For finance teams · month-end close

Every morning of close, a list of what's missing — with the source for each one.

BrainB reads your close checklist, trial balance, and supporting documents, then tells you what's unreconciled, unsupported, or unusual — and shows you exactly where each finding came from.

It prepares the work. You decide everything. It posts nothing.

01The problem

Close isn't hard because the accounting is hard. It's hard because half of it is chasing people and cross-checking by hand.

If you run a close, you know this

  • It's day six and you still don't know whether every balance-sheet reconciliation has a current workpaper.
  • Someone chases the same four people for the same three documents, every single month.
  • The variance you explain to the board was found by hand, in a spreadsheet, at 9pm.
  • Half of close is finding out what isn't done yet.
02The work

So BrainB does the preparation and the chasing — the jobs below, each finding tied to its source, and a cycle you stay in control of.

What it does

Four jobs, done before you sit down.

01

Finds what's blocking.

Incomplete close tasks, overdue reconciliations, missing workpapers, transactions above your threshold with no approved support.

02

Chases the evidence.

Identifies what support is missing, drafts the request, tracks who owes what and for how long.

03

Flags what looks wrong.

Unmatched transactions, duplicate payments, accounts moving more than the threshold you set.

04

Drafts the variance explanation.

Grounded in the actual transactions, with the supporting document attached.

Evidence, not assertions

Click any number. See exactly where it came from.

Every finding links to its source — the ledger line, the invoice page, the bank transaction, the policy clause it breached.

And if it can't show you the source, it doesn't present it as a finding. It raises it as an exception for you to look at instead.

How it works

Five steps. You stay in control of all of them.

01

It reads what you give it.

Close checklist, trial balance, supporting documents. Uploads to start — no system access, no credentials.

03The guardrails

The boundary is the product. What it won't touch, how it stays safe, and who it's built for.

How BrainB stays safe

  1. 01No money moves unattended.
  2. 02No payment is initiated, changed, or released without an authorised person approving it at the moment of execution.
  3. 03No bank account or vendor payment detail changes without high-risk verification.
  4. 04No financial statements are signed off by software.
  5. 05Material or non-routine journal entries require Controller approval.
  6. 06External communications require authorisation.
  7. 07A single correction never silently rewrites a policy.
  8. 08It gets only the data its specific job requires.
  9. 09Every recommendation links to its source.
  10. 10Every consequential action is recorded in full — what data was used, what was decided, who approved it, what happened.

And in this first version, it posts nothing at all. It finds what's missing, flags what looks wrong, shows you the evidence, and creates the task. You decide everything.

The boundary

What it doesn't do — and where your data stays.

The boundary

What it doesn't do

It doesn't post journal entries. It doesn't move money. It doesn't replace your accounting system. It doesn't sign off on anything. It isn't a chatbot.

It does the preparation and the chasing. You do the judgment.

Your data

Your books stay where they are.

Your financial records, documents, and communications stay in your environment. We don't hold them and we can't retrieve them.

It runs where you control it — your infrastructure or your cloud.

Under the work

What's underneath

Policy decides, not the AI.

Every action an agent proposes passes a rule you set, enforced in code, before anything happens. Above your materiality threshold, it waits for you. Below it, only if a rule — not a guess — produced the answer. Money never moves unattended, at any setting.

Nothing reaches you unproven.

Every finding links to its source. If it can't show you one, it doesn't present it as a finding at all — it raises it as an exception for you to look at.

All of it is recorded.

What data was used, which rule applied, what was checked, what was recommended, who approved it, what changed. It's your file, it stays on your machine, and it's the thing you hand an auditor.

Certifications: not yet, and we'll say so.

We're not SOC 2 certified today. Before anything touches a live system there'd be a signed agreement, an NDA, and an incorporated entity with insurance — and even then the first access is read-only. We'd rather tell you that than imply otherwise.

How we handle your data

Fit

Built for

finance teams of roughly 3–20, in companies of 51–500 people, running an accounting platform plus a CRM, a spend tool, payroll, a bank, and a lot of spreadsheets.

Roles

  • CFO
  • VP Finance
  • Controller
  • Finance Operations Manager
  • FP&A Lead

Probably not for you if

you're under 20 people, everything already lives in one system, or you want the books closed without a person reviewing the work.

I'm Mitansh. I'm building BrainB because every finance person I've spoken to describes the same thing — the close isn't hard because the accounting is hard, it's hard because half of it is chasing people and cross-checking things by hand.

I'm early. I'd genuinely rather have you tell me I've got this wrong than guess for another six months. If you'll give me twenty minutes, I'll take the audit offer above seriously and send you something useful either way.

Questions

The honest answers.

Do you need access to our accounting system?

No. It starts with files you send.

Does it post to our general ledger?

No. Not in this version.

Are you SOC 2 certified?

Not yet. Before anything touches a live system there'd be a signed agreement, an NDA, and an incorporated entity with insurance — and even then the first access is read-only.

What happens to our data?

Your financial records, documents, and communications stay in your environment. We don't hold them and we can't retrieve them. It runs where you control it.

Which systems do you connect to?

Uploads today. Connections get built in the order customers need them — tell us yours and it moves up.

Is this an ERP replacement?

No. It runs alongside the accounting system you already have and doesn't ask you to migrate anything.

What does it cost?

The first audit is free. Pricing comes after it's proven useful to you.

Who's behind this?

A solo founder in Vancouver — see the note above. You'll deal with me directly.

Where this goes

The close is the first thing BrainB runs, not the last. The control layer underneath it — the rules, the evidence, the record — is built to run any operational work a company would otherwise hire for.
